KANE MORE ABLE TO OPERATE AS HAPPY SOLDIERS

Former Leo Burnett Sydney head of art John Kane has formed Happy Soldiers, an ideas company that works for both communications companies as well as direct to client. Says Kane: “We’ve actually been in existence for almost a year and originally it was called I am Kane but then it became much more than just me, so that’s how we ended up with Happy Soldiers. We always wanted to do some work before launching. Instead of banging on about what we were going to do we wanted to show what we do. So we have already completed work for Host on Fairfax, McMann & Tate on Westfield and Westgate & Friends on Allens Arthur Robinson, as well as a few personal projects.
"We’ve also just got new offices and a new website. To take a look at what we’ve been up to, just visit www.happysoldiers.com.au and go to ‘the work’ and then ‘the latest’.”

It's great to see freelancers taking charge and setting up a permanent operation but still consultant and independent in attitude. Hopefully more set ups like this survive and thrive and set the tone for others to follow. Do BIG out dated agencies really need to pay so many creative teams fat salaries to play foosball????? Go Happy Soldiers!
