TSUNAMI WAVE CONCEPT: WHO PRESENTED WHEN?

BMF Sydney presented this wider Tsunami Wave Billboard concept (bottom)to Medecin Sans Frontiers back in February this year, which can be verified by Emerald City Design, who were handed the BMF idea to produce. However, Clemenger BBDO, Wellington presented to their client, Civil Defence, in October, 2005. Says Clemenger Wellington's Dan Moth: "We first presented this idea to client as part of a successful pitch on the 28th of October, 2005. Here is the actual image (top) that was presented on this date."

it's getting narky now!

I wonder if either agency can pinpoint exactly when they thought of the idea... that'll sort all this out.

It was done years ago for 'Step into liquid' also for 'Unhooked' and actually just about every big wave surf movie ever made.

Hey Warren. I think Spiller owes you a beer for taking all the attention off his Camry ads.

Wave on a building: The first one I saw was on the (whole) side of the Surfection shop on Mona Vale Road - as you drove up the Northern Beaches. Circa '75. It looked ACE.

I last saw Jay Furby wearing combat gear and carrying a bazooka. He appeared to be chasing someone called Bombay, while Chuck peeped out from behind a hedge. Stange stuff indeed.

All the best

Now that we're over this wave crap, can anyone explain why the Award presentation dinner is on a wednesday night?

Basically it's because everybody has to work the next day.

Award can order 50% less wine and beer and rake in even more money.

It's why cheap-ass agencies always hold their Christmas parties on Thursdays.

Hi...australasian creatives. These ares are a bit of fun, but the anger shocks me. We all know that the person who was first to do this concept was GOD.
He did the idea many years ago.
We should be friends with our ads. In my country when we do a layout sometimes someone will gives us some advice, then we go back to our real jobs in the factory.
I loke these ads they are all good in their own retrospective, except I'm not sure I like the word 'Wellington' It makes me hungry!

Regardless of who was first, both the concept mockups shown in this post look better than the actual posters that were were produced (below). What a shame they couldn't afford the right stock shots or poster sites to really pull it off.
