BARCODES BLOODY EVERYWHERE

Here's other examples of Barcodes been well and truly done before in the early 90s, both from the UK and from the good ol' USA, Mr Lubars's home territory. They are from a great book called 'A Smile in the Mind' by Beryl McAlhone and David Stuart. It has a forward by Edward De Bono. It's by Phaidon. According to the copy next to them, they were all used as real barcodes. Jeez, all the Cannes Titanium jury had to do was Google 'Barcode designs' and they would have discovered the Japanese were more than a decade behind the UK, USA and Germany.

is there life after Cannes? Does anyone want any actual advertising done? is anything being presented, approved and oh my god produced? Who knows. For a whole month this blog has been Cannes central. You wouldn't think anyone else was out there doing anything.....ENOUGH ALREADY

Hey this is important. A bunch of stupid judges stuffed the main award at Cannes.

Get a grip Lynchy. The Lynx work wasn't exactly the height of originality either. Aside from it being squarely based on the Lynx/Axe work that preceded it, dolly bird airlines are a bit of a cliche.
There's an old saw that patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

So let's give the Aussie chest-beating a rest.

how are comments on a blog meant to flow if they only get posted two days aftern they are written?

Dear 5:13, I'm travelling in Cornwall and Devon, in between internet cafes, hence the 12 hour delay each day. Back in Sydney on Saturday so the Blog will return to normal speed from then on.

it just goes to show how detached so called big name advertising people are from the pulse of ideas. So many big titles on one jury and not one of them had any idea they were awarding an idea that was done several times before. Any design student could have told you that designer barcodes are a rite of passage for all designers.
