BROWNLOW QUITS SINGO FOR McCANN ASSOCIATE CD GIG

CB hears David Brownlow has resigned from Singleton Ogilvy & Mather, Sydney to join McCann-Erickson Sydney as associate creative director to once again work under former SO&M lads Mike Thomas, now ECD of McCann and CEO Chris Mort. Although titles don't seem to mean much at McCanns these days: with a creative department which has shrunk from 17 people to four in just a few years it looks like every role is hands-on.

Brownlow is a good bloke. He's done good work.
Anyone who commits character assassination without signing their name is a wanker!

Here. Here. But why didn't you sign yours?

Do the right thing Lynchy and remove these blog entries! I want to talk about peoples creative, not about the people.

OK, now that Lynchy has wiped off the offending comments, let's talk about Brownlow's work. Er, does anyone out there know what he's done?

Forget bird flu; there's obviuosly a wanking epidemic in Sydney. Few people put their name to anything.

Remove those last two blogs. I'm offended by he use of our saviours name in vain. And I don't want Brownlow offended by that last scurroulous comment. Of course he's done good work; hasn't he just renovated his house?

Didn't he do the white box ads for Philips? He did Toohey's as well... or was that that Kiwi bloke?

I'd like the blogs that have the word wanker in them removed. I am a wanker, a proud wanker and to have my name sullied in such a way is offensive. Let he that has not wanked as they say....

He doesn't have to have done anything, he's ex-singos. It's like the Masons.

Like most, I couldn't say whether he is a wanker or naot as I've never heard of him. The fact that most of you have says to me you mostly have worked in crap agencies or should get out more.

He did the Naked running guys for Guinness. The dog jumping for the seagull who stole the chips to end up through through the sun roof for AAMI. The genome spot for Hyundai where the cells form and transform into the ‘Highly Evolved Sonata”. Lots of LG, American Express,
Qantas, Telstra, Coke - all for Singo's.

3:55 PM

Hey CV man

Thought the Highly Evolved spot was done by Bruce Matchet and a Northern Pommie chick?

He's done coke has he?

Is CV man Dave Brownlow?

"All for Singo's" - strange how such a simply and innocent phrase tacked carelessly onto the end of CV man (what a wanky handle) can sound like such an indictment.

I like the Guiness ad.

Didn't he do AGL too?

4:24 PM
Blogger CV MAN said...

Yes he did do AGL as well. Your not David brownlow are you?

Not if you are.

So he did the current blue fairy ads then?

I heard he was a contender for the Arnould/Mould Cdship.

Yes, well he does have more social skills that Furby.

What about his creative output; this guy's an unkown entity. And sorry CV man, but there's nothing you listed that get's my motor running.

He's going to be Associate CD of an agency and we no nowt about him other than he's bald, worked at Singo's since he was a nipper, and has ruffled a lot of peoples feathers.

Has he won anything? Canne? New York Festivals? D&AD? Clio?

Lynchy how about you do a piece on him - give him some exposure.

Did you see someone said Singo's are firing this afternoon? It was tagged it onto the NZ Girl story. Anyone know anything?

CV Man here. I just provide the facts, without comment about the work itself. And as to awards, I imagine none for his Singo work due to their strict No Awards Policy.

Geez, you young 'award-winners' seem to know a whole bunch about Singo's. How would you know such detail ? Wow,42 posts so far......here's a tip losers. Write some ads.

OOOhhh...this is so fucking bitchy. Love it. Five or more posts removed by Lynchy I can see. Remember guys, it's a clean fight, no holding, no cuddling, no pressing one's mouth over the other and then biting of their tongue...

Awards don't go a long way on the Singletonization Process of the advertising industry in Australia. Soon in an agency near you....

"Geez, you young 'award-winners' seem to know a whole bunch about Singo's. How would you know such detail ? Wow,42 posts so far......here's a tip losers. Write some ads"

To the author of this startlingly original and insightful piece of prose. THere's a job waiting for you at Singo's, if you don't already work there. "Write some ads"; what a lame arsed comment.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

What the fuck is it with people on blogs telling other people on blogs to go 'write some ads'?

People are only on here because they're:
(a) Deep in shit-brief avoidance mode, and wasting their time doing anything but writing ads.

(b) Actually Lynchy in disguise, drumming up a bit of controversy.

(c)Working for Singo's, where you can write your entire month's ads in a single morning, leaving you plenty of time to write on blogs.

(d) Schizo freaks who log in anonymously and argue with themselves.

jez there is a fair bit of paranoia about who looks at this blog...you boys from singos are really odd.

7:34 PM

It'a simplw. 50 posts on one tiny tiny story means you losers have a little emotion and engagement with the story. No-one else has ever heard of the bloke other than those who have worked there.

Geese.

more interesting than where Browneye is going is where M&C's Dunne and Larcombe are heading off to. Word is Singo parked a ute load of cash to get them in to cover Browneye's chicken work.

I normally make a point of ignoring crap like this because it is a depressing reminder of the poisonous and pathetic little lives led by a vocal minority in our industry. But sometimes you have to make an exception.
Dave Brownlow is one of the loveliest blokes you will ever meet. He's also got a lovely wife and two lovely kids.
And for what it's worth, he is also a very talented person who has written some very, very good ads. His greatest crime is that he hasn't made it onto the radar of the gutlessly anonymous lynch mob that populates this little website. And as far as I'm concerned that's another reason to like him.
No doubt this will provoke a similar spray from the mob in my direction, but I couldn't give a stuff.
For anyone who really knows Dave, let's all raise a can of VB and wish him the very best of luck in his new role.
For everyone else, can I propose another toast: this is a fun little business that we work in, but it's just advertising - let's keep it happy.
